Why was Steward Ownership Financing Network (SOFIN) founded?
Since the term steward ownership was initially coined by PURPOSE® in 2015, it has evolved from a relatively unknown niche concept to a lived reality that is gaining traction among entrepreneurs, researchers, capital providers and investors worldwide. Yet, lack of information and narratives, complex legal implementation and particularly the lack of aligned capital present major obstacles on the path towards steward ownership for entrepreneurs and investors to leverage its potential for a flourishing economy and society.
The SOFIN comes in at the third hill: to tackle the challenge of finding aligned capital and co-investors.
Founded in 2025, it offers the first network of its kind that is fully dedicated towards steward ownership aligned financing and serves as a community space that stakeholders can join at no cost to learn and connect. It is hosted by Purpose Ventures who are one of the forerunners of bringing SO-aligned investments into life.
